Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions: Stop Deportation! Protest Camp

Where can I sleep?
  • We will sleep in tents on the campsite, so bring your camping equipment!
  • If you do not have camping gear, or have camping gear you could lend out to others, please contact signup-stopdeportation@riseup.net
    • Let us know if you have extra tents, sleeping mats, and/or sleeping bags to lend to others, or if you are missing this gear and need to be matched with someone who can lend it to you.
    • Let us know if you need or can offer sleeping places in a flat for people who don’t want to or cannot sleep in a tent.
Is the camp legal? Will there be direct actions? Is it safe for me?
  • The camp will be registered with the state authorities and will therefore be a legal event.
  • We will not engage in direct actions / acts of civil disobedience during the time of the camp and ask that all camp participants also do not do so. People have diverse experiences and positionalities in relation to the police, and we are doing our best to make the camp as safe as possible to those among us wishing to avoid contact with police. Of course cops are never to be trusted and security can never be guaranteed because police will be around, but we strongly ask everyone to not take actions during the camp and during the demo.
  • Since the camp is a registered political assembly, everyone has the right to access the camp without being detained by police. However, police could check IDs of people on their way from the S-Bahn to the camp. Especially BIPOC people are at risk of being racially profiled and stopped by cops. We therefore urge everyone to travel to the camp in a group. We will offer regular shuttles from the S-Bahn to the camp and recommend people who are affected by racial profiling to use them.
  • We’ll distribute a security flyer in advance with information on how to behave in contact with the police. We will have 24/7 security and awareness phone numbers that you can call in case of contact with police or other issues, as well as lawyers and anti-repression groups available to call in emergencies.
  • We will have a security team present throughout the campsite, day and night.
Is it for free?
  • Yes, it is!
  • We will ask for donations for the food, and donations to the camp in general are welcome, but if you cannot pay, it’s no problem!
  • If you need financial support with your travel costs to the camp, contact finance-stopdeportation@riseup.net as soon as possible, book the cheapest option (e.g. Deutschland-Ticket) and send them your ticket receipts.
  • We still have many open costs, so please donate if you can: https://www.betterplace.me/stop-deportation-camp-ber
Will there be food?
  • Yes! There will be 3 meals per day as well as a pizza and a coffee & waffle station.
  • We have amazing cooking collectives taking care of the food & we will need people who sign up for shifts to help with cooking at the info-point on camp!
How can I support?
  • Send us an e-mail to signup-stopdeportation@riseup.net if you can support with: translation (when & which languages?), medical care, constructing and deconstructing the camp (set up from 27.5., tear down from 6.6. until 9.6.), electricity and water systems, transport/ cars/ driving license, sleeping places, camping material, technical support, security or awareness
  • Mobilize all your friends and share the information about the camp and the struggle against the BER deportation center!
Is it barrier-free?
  • We have some barriers on our camp that we are trying to abolish or reduce, you can find our concept here
  • If you arrive at the S-Bahn station, we’ll have a shuttle bus to the camp with a lifting platform for wheelchairs
Can I bring my dog?
  • This camp is intented to be a safe, accessible space for all visitors. Dogs are frightening for many people. People may have experience and trauma with aggressive dogs. Even if dogs are kept leashed/ controlled, people might not feel safe.
  • Guide dogs and working support dogs are welcome.
  • All other dogs and pets are not permitted at the camp.
  • If you bring your dog, you will be designated to a camping area away from the main camping, and the dog cannot be brought into event spaces at any time.
